one venturan week

during this past week in ventura, i have:
painted stripes onto a concrete porpoise
liberated another tiny 1940's typewriter
watched making the video with *nsync three times
learned how to operate a dvd player
stopped eating carbohydrates
broken into a country club
parted my hair on the right side
searched for old man shoes
thrown up inside a moving vehicle
lent my diary to an old friend of my mother's
taken my dog with me virtually everywhere i've gone
and bought a skirt.

being in ventura makes me forget i've ever gone anywhere else. i was supposed to leave for oakland yesterday but it has been postponed. there is a pull to your parents' home that tranquilizes you with the familiar.

not the comfortable, but the familiar.

i don't think i'll ever wear that skirt, though.
