I pointed out that I didn't get much from adults in my adolescence until after I quit drugs and started attending school. I had to take the first steps alone then all the best role models became available. I didn't tell them that during this time of turn-around I made out with a twenty-four year old social worker who was second-in-commnd at the group home I was staying in. I did point out that I didn't have to pay for college; there were piles of scholarships for wards of the state who graduate high school.
