novembre ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mending is boring. to be added to later things that are beautiful but wouldn't seem so -sitting through a mechanized car wash, music turned up loud, feeling like you are driving through a non-threatening snowstorm (this is especially magical if you have grown up where it does not snow, and you tend to romanticize winter, so much so that people from maine roll their eyes at you constantly) -riding an elevator past flight after flight and you can hear people standing in the hallways, laughing, as you are pulled upwards. -sign language interpreting things that aren't beautiful and never seem so -overhearing a powerpoint presentation about contracting -microphone feedback -(precursor to this one: covering the receptionist's desk.) sitting at a reception desk for so long that the sensor-rigged lights shut off automatically, having forgotten your body's warmth. every hour on the hour. and you have to get up and swing your arms in the air below the sensor so you won't have to sit in the dark with only the annoying mechanic hum from the copier to keep you company. things that made me laugh when i was a little kid, that now scare me slightly -men with thick mustaches smiling tersely things that scared me when i was a little kid, and still do -the way people in furry animal suits (like at disneyland?) have to be silent underneath their masks. the way you can see human eyes through the mesh animal mask eyes, and their expression is almost always depressed.
