conversation with a jungian analyst in my mind

an ageold defense mechanism: elaborate day dreams.

its use: to buffer reality.

when no longer applicable, will the mechanism diffuse? no. it will stay in place until you can gradually disengage.

but you are not there yet. want an example?

yes:
just last week when someone you knew by sight called your name, you did not turn around.
you knew this person would ask you on a date but you kept walking, and wondered to yourself why you did this. you have not dated in a considerable amount of time.

you are content to day dream.

oh i am not. i was just shy.

when you see this person again, what will you do?





you will avoid them. and you will wonder what could have happened, but you will dismiss it.





i fear you are turning into a character in a french movie.

you are becoming completely disconnected with many facets of regular life. like dating, and romance.

but i feel loneliness sometimes. isn't that a sign that i'd like this to change?

what you feel is overwhelmed by fear. you are a coward.

and you are not in a beautiful french movie, so your predicament is not glossed over or set to a soundtrack. you are all you have.

i've got amazing friends. and family.

humans desire the other. to be coupled. you are not excluded.
