why i got a parking ticket:
parked pastel on a metered street but figured he'd be safe because it was a holiday, but then discovered it was only a school holiday

where i spent four and a half hours:
at woody's laundromat, amazed at the amount of people who decided to wait until a technical holiday to wash their clothes. eyed jealously a poppy woman knitting, watched court television while folding clothes. read stories out of nick hornby's speaking with the angel. waited forty five minutes for a third dryer, pinching myself emotionally for putting off doing laundry long enough to have to use three industrial-sized dryers
