novembre ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ventura boulevard krissy and i drove out to lake casitas to watch the stars. we talked about heartbreak and friends we've lost contact with, and she brushed my hair leaning up against my car. i sang latin hymns and turned slow circles with my eyes upwards, trying to find orion's belt. crickets edged nearer and nearer. krissy became convinced there were eyes in the trees. on the drive back with the brights on we sang along to tom petty, holding hands over the gearshift. the farther west we drove, the farther north the stars receeded. the milky way melted and the blue planet disappeared. the fog rolled towards us and wiped everything out of the sky as i turned onto the 101. 12:54 am - 07.02.02 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
