neighbors

i want to get to know the kids that hang out on their balcony playing guitars and calling to the geese flying overhead in the middle of the night. i walk past them all the time and all the time they are doing this same thing, laughing softly and talking, stopping when they see me

and i wish you were my next-door neighbor so i could monitor your sounds through the walls, oh she's on the computer, on the typewriter, muttering to herself after running into doors or tables.
