novembre ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- days and days and days i have not yet read ricky's case files. i know that he has slight autism, but not to what degree. he is at the school mainly for getting kicked out of all the regular ones, mainly for his severe emotional disorders and his aggression. on friday i was his one-on-one staff. i had matt smith, a twenty year old gentle giant who i was helping shave when one of my bosses switched me to ricky for the day because he likes me. ricky was having a "behaviour." lunging for skylar and trying to beat him unconscious. he and i clucked like chickens and mooed like cows until i got him calmed down. we discussed paint ball and how people always seem to maim seagulls while ricky swayed gently back and forth. he wears a leather pouch filled with rocks strung around his neck because his mother is native american, and that is the meatiest explanation i can get out of him. thirteen. both ears pierced, little gold hoops. black jeans and the foo fighters. internet fanaticism. i kept hugging him to me. tuesday i had both ricky and issac. issac is autistic but functional, he can speak two languages and can count past ten without getting a headache. ricky refused to do any schoolwork so he just sat around all day.
