novembre ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- how to play chess by heather lynn how to play chess by heather lynn in the two months i have been in athens, i have had four jobs. part of the problem is that everyone around me has imaginary jobs, living off of money from royalty checks or small scale drug deals. another part of the problem is that i am flighty and bore easily with most forms of work. i have often wished that i could be employed at something that i am truly good at: writing fake letters to celebrities, making poinless lists, fixating on all of my flaws. unfortunately these are not lucrative career options. i had only been in town three days before i got a job as a housekeeper at a motel. after a couple weeks i couldn't handle coming home smelling like out of town business men's sweat. i got a job at a chocolate shop. my boss was a control freak with a list of neurotic rules. every time he turned his back i binged on choclate and excused myself to go puke it up. i then worked briefly at athens' 24 hour diner. i was a cashier, but it felt more like being paid $5 an hour to sit around doing nothing. i would rather do something with my time, even if it involves not being paid. now i work out of my house. i talk to lonely men on the phone and usually at some point in the conversation they have an orgasm. it pays well and between calls i can watch movies and do dishes or even work on my artistic endeavors. i don't usually mention to the men that the reason i am talking to them is because i am too mentally ill to work outside of my home. it would probably ruin my mystique. about the guest writer: heather lynn currently resides in athens. her work can be seen at monstermovie.diaryland.com she also tap dances, juggles clubs, and wears really tight clothes. 8:24 pm - 5.13.01 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
