novembre ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- laura's bob dylan my friend laura sent me her journal account of her experience at the same nostalgic concert that i went to, so i figured i'd post part of it here to add a bigger span. (laura: if you don't want me to leave it on this page, just email me and i'll take it down, but i honestly didn't think you'd mind so that's why i went ahead anyway) laura was actually present during the sixties. bob dylan opened -- in broad daylight -- wearing spats (!) -- mostly old songs that sounded new -- made me wonder where the song is -- in the words or in the music -- which part is the song? if you take the lyrics & put them to different music (in effect what dylan did) then it takes a while to say "oh yeah, that's..." but no matter what words, or no words, you put to a melody line -- everyone says "oh! that's..." so i ask again, where is the song? he was playing with that -- new tunes, same words -- which does he value? what does that mean? somewhere in the middle of all that nika & i made a pact, an agreement, a deal -- since we create each day anyway, let's just create each day as play, as joy, as love-ly as inspiration, as creativity -- after all why create it any other way? and to act as reminders to each other if we fall off the wagon of joy... - last weekend ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
